Description

2022 Aurore de Dauzac Margaux

The name “Aurore” means dawn, and this wine feels exactly like that, refined, luminous, and full of quiet promise. It’s a celebration of Margaux’s elegance, showing  depth and finesse without ever losing its gentle touch. If the Grand Vin is the evening gala, Aurore is the golden hour before it, graceful, warm, and effortlessly stylish. A meticulous plot-by-plot selection from the estate’s finest parcels in Margaux, planted on fine, sandy, gravelly hilltops. Composed of 60% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Petit Verdot, harvested by hand and fermented using gravity-fed tanks to preserve purity. Aged 12 months in a combination of French oak barrels (45%) and oak vats (55%). The 2022 vintage, marked by hot, dry conditions and low yields, produced wines of stunning concentration and harmony.

The Story
expand_more
Château Dauzac is a historic Margaux Grand Cru Classé (Fifth Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux classification), nestled in Labarde on the Left Bank of the Gironde estuary. Today owned by the Roulleau family and managed by Laurent Fortin since 2013, the estate spans approximately 49 hectares of vineyard and is celebrated for marrying tradition with innovation—embracing practices like vegan-friendly fining, ungrafted–franc de pied wines, and a pioneering carbon-neutral cuvée project.
Taste
expand_more
The palate is silky and refined, unfolding with layers of ripe red fruit, cedar, and graphite. The tannins glide rather than grip, finishing long and elegant, like a well-rehearsed encore.
Cellaring Potential
expand_more
Beautiful now with a brief decant, but will continue to evolve gracefully through 2035.
Food Matching
expand_more
Ideal with roasted lamb, truffle risotto, or a perfectly seared duck breast. Also divine with earthy mushroom dishes or anything featuring rosemary and garlic.
