Description

Etna Rosso "Calderara Sottana" DOC 2024

by Tenute delle Terre Nere is a premium red wine made primarily from Nerello Mascalese, with a small percentage of Nerello Cappuccio, sourced from the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna. This wine offers vibrant and expressive tasting notes of red cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry, complemented by subtle hints of smoke, herbs, and volcanic minerality. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, it achieves a refined balance of fresh acidity, fine tannins, and a smooth, lingering finish. Ideal pairings include roasted meats, grilled vegetables, and hearty pasta dishes. Tenute delle Terre Nere, known for its commitment to organic farming and sustainable practices, expertly crafts wines that capture the unique terroir of Mount Etna, with the “Calderara Sottana” Etna Rosso standing as a perfect example of the estate’s craftsmanship and dedication to quality.

The Story
expand_more
Tenuta delle Terre Nere has been established 30 years ago by Marco de Garcia and his brother on exceptional sites. Located on the northern slopes of the Mount Etna, between the village of Solicchiata and the town of Randazzo, the area is historically recognized as the very finest of the entire appellation for Nerello Mascalese. The 27 hectars of local varieties have been cultivated organically from the very beginning in 2002, at a very low yield. Most of the vines are between 50 and 100 years old. Once best known for introducing Americans to great Italian wines as an importer, Marco de Garcia has also become, over the years, a reference for the Etna DOC.
