Description

2019 Château Coutet "Les Demoiselles"

is a refined Barsac sweet wine composed predominantly of Sémillon, with smaller proportions of Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. It opens with an intoxicating perfume of orange blossom, ripe apricots, candied ginger, and honeyed quince, layered with subtle hints of saffron and toasted almond. The palate is rich yet elegant, balanced by electric acidity that cuts through the opulence, revealing waves of golden stone fruit, lemon curd, and a saline minerality that lingers through the persistent finish. Aged for 18–24 months in French oak barrels, this wine has both immediate charm and the structure to evolve beautifully over decades. Ideal with foie gras, blue cheese, or fruit-based desserts like tarte Tatin. As one of the oldest estates in Barsac, Château Coutet is renowned for producing wines of exceptional clarity and finesse, with "Les Demoiselles" embodying a fresher, more floral expression of its noble terroir.
