Description
Giuseppe Castiglioni bought a single hectare of vineyard in Tuscany in 1974. His dream was to make elegant and rich wines from the native Sangiovese grapes among others. His son would convert the estate to organic viticulture in 1988. The estate now spans over 100 hectares of vineyards with their commitment to continue creating extraordinary wines. With over 74 hectares of Chianti Classico vineyards and 32 hectares in Maremma on Tuscany's southern coast, they represent the largest extension of certified organic vineyards in Italy. Each site is surrounded by oak forests and olive groves whose presence adds biodiversity and protects against cross-contamination from conventional farms. Maturation in small cement and stainless steel vats. No animal products or byproducts are used during any phase of grape growing and wine making.
