From the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna, Tenuta delle Terre Nere has been producing some of the finest wines in the region for over 40 years.  Due to the extreme climate, their success hinges on vineyard management so they employ the very best workmanship in all aspects of their viniculture while remaining as non-invasive as possible.  Located on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, between the village of Solicchiata and the town of Randazzo, this area is historically recognized as the very finest of the entire appellation for Nerello Mascalese.  The 45 hectares of local varieties have been cultivated organically from the very beginning and at a very low yield to ensure only the best grapes are used.

1 bottle Etna Rosso "Calderara Sottana" DOC, 2021, TENUTA DELLE TERRE NERE, SICILY, ITALY

A full-bodied wine perfect with meat and cheese. Alcoholic fermentation under controlled temperature (25-28°C). Spontaneous malolactic fermentation and aging in large French oak barrels (10-30 hl). Bottling after 16 months of wood ageing and 1 month in steel. Intense aroma, with notes of ripe fruit and spices. Pale ruby colour, with mahogany reflection. Structured and full flavour, with present, but soft tannins.

A great wine that goes great with roasted veggies, tomato dishes, pork, duck or fish. Alcoholic fermentation under controlled temperature (25-28°C). Spontaneous malolactic fermentation and aging in large French oak barrels (10-30 hl). Bottling after 16 months of wood ageing and 1 month in steel. On the nose, elegant, complex, with red fruits and cherry notes. Pale ruby colour. Harmonic, with a good acidity and persistence, soft and silky tannins.
